Well, it has been 5 weeks since the Nubian triplets were born. Meg and Mac seem to be thriving. They are much larger than another of our other babies were at this age. In fact, Mac is already very aware that he has boy parts. It has also been 5 weeks since Wally had emergency stone surgery. I have to admit, giving multiple goats daily doses of ammonium chloride, individually, is very cumbersome.
It looks like spring has arrived. Today, when the sun came up, it had a beautiful halo engulfing it. It lasted for an hour. Very amazing to see nature at its best.
Today involves taking down the baby manger, putting up a chicken coop as a hospital for birds in the infirmary, weeding, raking, pulling hay, and putting in another feeder. If anyone ever says farm life is easy, they need to be taken out to pasture!
One of the fun parts of having animals is watching them explore and enjoy life. My hound dog decided that today, she would explore the comforts that consist of sniffing, finding, rolling profusely, in goat poop. Ahhh, the aroma that is stinky wet dog mixed with poop. Guess who is getting a good sprinkle today with the garden hose when it warms up???
I decided to sell some of our farm eggs at work. I now have regular customers. I am not charging a big amount. Just enough to buy feed back with the small profit.
I am looking forward to working outside and soaking in the sun. My back isn't as excited about the prospect of two long days though.
More as it comes!
